| In Kansas City's history, trading by the river was an essential part of trade for trappers, West-bound gold seekers, settlers and locals. In the 70's the area was the scene of violent Mafia and underworld crime bombings and chaos. The area nearly died and was revived again in the 90's and into the new Millenium with the construction of Lofts, Condos, Brew Pubs, and the museum of the Steamboat Arabia. Now a thriving mecca of trade and housing, even the old City Market or Farmers Market is a robust link to our city's past. |
