| Fairfax or the Fairfax District of Kansas City, KS is an industrial area along the Missouri River.
The Fairfax bridge is a truss bridge spanning over the Missouri River connecting Kansas and Missouri via US Route 69.
The Fairfax Assembly Plant is a General Motors factory located on the Missouri River in the Fairfax District of Kansas City, KS. The site of the Fairfax GM Assembly plant was formerly the Fairfax Municipal Airport, it was purchased by GM in 1985. The site of the "Old GM Plant" as it is now called; was set up in 1941 as a parts distribution warehouse for BOP or Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac. In 1939 The US Department of Defense decided to build the North American Bomber Plant in the Fairfax District. The first B-25 came off the assembly plant the same week we were attacked by Japan in December of 1941. Later to be known as Pearl Harbor Day! Little did they know how much we would need that precious bomber then. The Fairfax Municipal Airport was developed and used to launch the venerable B-25 into action.
